The Little Things

Happy Monday, my dudes. Let’s take it slow today.
This post isn’t about productivity, or purpose, or any kind of five-year plan. It’s about the little things. The moments that don’t try to be anything other than what they are.
I spent my Sunday with a few unpredictable friends who, let’s be honest, probably don’t realize how much I was enjoying myself. But that’s okay. They don’t need to. That’s not their job.
We were just walking. Through nature. No destination. No clock. No pressure.
We stopped to eat. Grabbed a drink. Talked about nonsense. Laughed at nothing. Said dumb things on purpose. And it’s perfect. Not because it’s big or dramatic—but because it’s real.
And real things tend to slip away if you don’t notice them while they’re happening.
It's a nice thought to have on a Monday when you're back at work and start thinking that the weekend is too far away. But it's okay to feel that way, that's the Monday feel we all get. Appreciate it, because tomorrow is Tuesday. And Tuesday's got no feeeeeeel.
Maybe listen to the velvety voice of Jorja Smith. Reminding all of us generously that it's the little things that make life worth living. And little things make us all happy. A little thing might happen on a Monday:
Maybe your co-worker makes you a perfect cup of tea.
Maybe you find a penny on the ground.
Maybe you’ve got a guitar lesson later that you're excited for.
Who cares? It's the little things we do every week that make us happy!
I used to think I had to document everything. Analyze it. Turn it into some kind of insight. But lately I’ve learned to just… be in it.
Be present.
Be stupid.
Be slow.
You don’t need to name every feeling. You don’t need to explain why you’re smiling. Some things are just meant to be lived, not decoded.
So yeah, this is your Monday reminder that the best part of your day might not show up in your schedule. It might just show up in the walk. Or the meal. Or the silence in between.
And if not? There’s always toast. With some salty fucking bovril.
More soon.
But not too soon.
Take it easy – matt
