Happy Saturday my dudes, it's a beautiful day today, lots of adventure to be had. Let's get this blog rolling because your boy has some plans lined up.
Home.
Home is where the heart is or whatever.
I think home isn't really a place. It's more of a feeling. An idea. A space where we feel safe. Like that first sip of coffee and puff on a Marlboro Gold in the morning. Gets you ready for the day.
And Saturdays are the homiest days ever. Think about it. No alarms, no obligations. Just you in your pyjamas waiting for an adventure to call your name. I remember being a kid waiting in front of the TV, shifting between Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon trying to find the perfect cartoon for my cereal and milk.
Ah what great times those were.
I feel like I'm always chasing that feeling. That Saturday morning childhood feeling. Waiting for the TV to take me on an adventure.
But now we're grown up ladies and gents and we can't spend our Saturday mornings just staring at the TV. We have chores to do, errands to run, hobbies we need to practice. The list goes on. The list never ends.
The way I see it right now is:
Planning stuff is for weekdays.
Saturdays are for adventure
And that adventure could be anything. It could be a long list of errands you have to run. So how do we get adventure from errands? Well. Make the errands fun.
Pop an album in the car you've been dying to listen to.
Have a conversation with a random stranger.
Go to Maxims and get a double crispy edge square pizza.
Make your own adventure.
You can. It's free.
Don't let the mundanity of everyday life stop you from doing what you have to do.
And if you have a free Saturday, and all you want to do is lay on the couch like a baked potato and watch Seasons 1 - 4 of Spongebob whilst eating Coco Pops with milk, then just do that. Everyone has a vice after all.
Because Saturdays are safe places. Saturdays remind you that it's okay to pause, breathe, and feel at home with yourself. No rush. No expectations.
Have a break sometimes. You fucking deserve it. Do what you want to do.
It's fucking Saturday after all.
